Arne Mielken is a leading global trade professional in the UK and the EU and Managing Director of Customs Manager Ltd. He is accredited customs & export control practitioner and certified classification specialist. He has worked with customs and trade authorities in the EU and the UK for over a decade and he continues to be actively involved in the development of EU and UK customs policy and legislation through his membership in the EU’s Trade Contact Group (TCG) and the UK’s Joint Customs Consultancy Committee (JCCC).
He has also worked extensively with clients in Asia to assist them in getting set up in the EU and the UK. He advises on Free Trade Agreement in the Asia Pacific region, including how to leverage benefits from the multi-country CPTPP trade block that the UK hopes to join. He also advises clients on Chinese and Asian export controls.
He is an accomplished consultant and trainer having managed Customs Duties & Export Controls teams in several firms including Grant Thornton and Deloitte. From 2015-2020 he was the Vice President of The Institute of Export & International Trade and currently is a Board Member of the Export Control Profession.
He holds a BA (Hons) in International Business and Modern Languages, a Euromasters Degree, a Diploma in World Customs Compliance and Regulations, and has an Executive MBA. He is a Certified Classification Specialist, public speaker and an accredited trainer for Incoterms ® 2020. He also publishes articles in leading European foreign trade journals and writes blog posts for online magazines. He speak English, German, French & Spanish.
