Sally Long is the Interim Deputy Director for Business, Innovation & Investment Policy at the Intellectual Property Office. She leads teams responsible for developing policies and support to help businesses, innovators and researchers make informed IP decisions, recognise IP as an asset, and use it to drive growth and contribute to the UK economy. The teams work with innovation support providers, universities, the financial sector and government to strengthen creativity, innovation and support the Government’s growth agenda.
She previously headed the Business & Regional Growth Policy team, supporting regional ecosystems across the UK to understand the value of IP and ensuring businesses receive timely guidance to develop and use their IP assets effectively.
With over 30 years of experience at the IPO – spanning Trade Marks examination, tribunal work, customer services and business outreach – she brings expertise in IP, innovation and policy development.
